Control Systems Designer

We are currently look for a Control Systems Designer to join our team in Camas, WA. The position is a fulltime In-Office with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement after the first 6 months. The ideal candidate will be able to travel on occasion when needed. The pay range is $75-95K
Primary Function:
The Control Systems Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining engineering documentation for projects with control systems, supporting the lab enclosure and cable builds, troubleshooting and repair of such systems. Understand customer objectives, work with engineering, and use CAD software tools to create and maintain electrical wiring and cable diagrams that comply with industry standards for electro/mechanical systems. Work as a part of cross-functional teams to meet the goals of the project, the department, and the company
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Contribute to development and maintenance of department standards.
- Use CAD software to create and maintain electrical enclosure layouts, wiring and cable diagrams that comply with industry standards such as UL508A, NFPA 79, UL61010, and others.
- Review and develop change requests with the project engineer for clarity as needed.
- Create and/or update Bill of Materials (BOMs) for the electrical components as required.
- Incorporate redline changes into revision controlled documentation.
- Will host electrical drawing design reviews and build kick-off drawing reviews with the Lab.
- Consult with suppliers to identify obsolete components and appropriate replacements.
- Consult with control panel builders to ensure functional and quality needs are met.
- Create / Maintain electrical parts library.
- Electrical Design; wire sizing, load budget, fuse sizing, component selection, etc.
- Participate with system start-ups, troubleshooting, and testing.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
- Minimum 2-year degree in Mechatronics Design, Industrial EE or Automation and/or relative work experience, BS preferred.
- Requires the technical knowledge necessary to complete 2D electrical panel design.
- CAD experience of 3D and 2D CADs with; SolidWorks Electrical, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD
- At least 5-7 years of experience designing panels to UL61010, UL508A and NFP 79 standards required.
- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.
- Strong computer literacy skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, Outlook, PowerPoint, basic file structure understanding, networks, and web navigation.
- Demonstrate Commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values.
- Pass a post-offer background verification.
Work Environment
Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
