Primary Function:
AlphaCAM Programmer – Packaging Design (Foam) will be responsible for the design and development of custom foam tool trays used in packaging solutions. This role is highly detail-oriented and requires proficiency with AlphaCAM, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD, with AlphaCAM being the primary software tool. The programmer/engineer will work independently as part of a small, collaborative team within a larger organization. The ideal candidate will have experience designing with foam materials such as polyethylene or urethane and will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and precision in design execution

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Own the design and development of custom foam packaging tool trays for customer applications.
  • Utilize AlphaCAM (primary), as well as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, to create and modify designs.
  • Interpret client and internal specifications to produce accurate, efficient, and manufacturable designs.
  • Collaborate with production and project teams to ensure designs meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of designs, revisions, and technical drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Independently manage project workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Provide input on design improvements, material utilization, and process efficiencies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering and production teams.
  • Assist in training team members on software or design practices as needed.
  • Stay current with updates to AlphaCAM, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD to optimize performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in design engineering, preferably within packaging, foam, or related manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in AlphaCAM (primary software), with working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
  • Experience designing with foam materials, such as polyethylene or urethane.
  • Familiarity with packaging engineering or industrial design principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Background Check Required

Work Environment:
ENGINEERING: Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.  Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
