Position Details:
  • The hiring range for this role is typically between $86,000 and $107,000 annually, with the full range extending to $128,000 annually, based on experience, internal equity, and career progression
  • This position will be In-Office

Primary Function:
The Cabling Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, build, integration, and troubleshooting of cable assemblies, harness systems, and electromechanical interconnect solutions in support of prototype development and engineering programs. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support hands-on prototype builds, interpret client designs, identify integration challenges, and provide technical recommendations or design modifications needed to support rapidly evolving product development environments.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Support the development, build, and integration of cable harnesses, wire assemblies, and interconnect systems for prototype development programs
  • Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, bills of materials, and related documentation to support prototype builds and system integration
  • Define cable routing, connector selection, labeling, strain relief, shielding, and integration requirements for complex electromechanical assemblies
  • Perform hands-on cable fabrication, prototype assembly, system integration, modification, and bring-up activities throughout the development process
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cable systems into prototype assemblies and support evolving engineering requirements
  • Troubleshoot cable, wiring, connector, and system integration issues encountered during build and test activities
  • Identify design, manufacturability, and integration challenges and provide technical recommendations, stop-gap solutions, or design modification feedback when issues arise during development
  • Support refinement of cable designs and assembly approaches as prototype requirements evolve throughout the development process
  • Perform cable fabrication including crimping, termination, connector installation, routing, labeling, continuity testing, and assembly rework as needed
  • Create and refine build instructions, assembly documentation, and engineering processes to support rapid development cycles
  • Work closely with Engineering Technicians and engineers to support prototype fabrication, testing, troubleshooting, and iterative design improvements
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in prototype development, electromechanical systems, cable integration, cable design support, or related technical environments
  • Experience building and integrating cable harnesses, wire assemblies, and electromechanical interconnect systems
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, cable drawings, engineering documentation, and design intent
  • Significant hands-on experience supporting prototype builds, cable fabrication, system integration, and engineering development environments
  • Strong understanding of cable routing, connector selection, strain relief, shielding, and harness integration practices
  • Experience troubleshooting cable and integration challenges and identifying practical solutions during development builds
  • Ability to identify design limitations and provide technical recommendations or design modification feedback when integration challenges arise
  • Familiarity with cable fabrication processes including crimping, termination, continuity verification, and connector installation
  • Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills in fast-paced development environments
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group

Work Environment
Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
