SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a consumer electronics company seeking an experienced Design Engineer III. This position is a remote contract with an expected duration of 6 months.

  • $105k - $120k annually/DOE

Primary Function:
The Design Engineer III will be a key contributor in the development and integration of digital filter designs, working on high-impact hardware projects that influence cutting-edge technologies. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance designs for integration into larger systems.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and optimize digital filters, particularly decimation filters, using both floating-point and fixed-point methods.
  • Leverage MATLAB for filter design, simulation, and testing to ensure precise and efficient implementations.
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate filter blocks into overall chip designs, enabling seamless end-to-end system simulations.
  • Partner with physical design and verification teams to align on specifications, resolve design challenges, and optimize overall system performance.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail throughout the design and verification processes to deliver high-quality and reliable hardware blocks.
  • Produce technical documentation, sketches, and design reports to communicate progress and ensure alignment with project specifications.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
  • 5+ years of experience designing DSP blocks, including FIR, IIR, and CIC filters.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (required).
  • Advanced proficiency in MATLAB, especially within the Signal Processing Toolbox, for design and simulation.
  • Experience creating and validating test vectors for both fixed-point and floating-point designs to ensure bit-accurate results.
  • Strong skills in creating hardware reference models and running verification checks (Lint, RDC, CDC).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical schematics, and generate engineering drawings using CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with hardware design software such as Verilog/SystemVerilog, and experience using EDA tools like Spyglass for validation checks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork within diverse project teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, with a creative approach to overcoming design challenges.
  • Background check required upon acceptance of an offer.

Work Environment:
Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.  Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
