Primary Function: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for driving innovation and applying technical and analytical expertise to solve real-world challenges that benefit customers and end users. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver practical, technically sound solutions across the full product lifecycle, from new product development to sustaining. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, self-motivated individual with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, capable of resolving production and aftermarket issues in a fast-paced environment. Direct customer interaction may be required to gather requirements and address problems effectively.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
Participate in and lead cross functional teams to create, release and support state of the art products
Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques
Oversee and participate in product validation and qualification testing
Manage the design of electromechanical systems to meet customer requirements
Partner with customers and vendors to resolve technical issues
Analyze, optimize, build, test and refine new product and sustaining solutions to meet functional, cost, reliability, and manufacturability goals
Apply your expertise in prototyping, manufacturing processes, materials, post-processes, coatings & finishes
Create and modify 3D models, component drawings and assembly drawings using PTC CREO and Windchill
Conduct failure analysis to determine root cause and correct issues
Manage documentation and maintain configuration control and export compliance in a PLM system
Provide technical guidance and mentorship for other engineers
Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with electronics packaging
Experience or interest in Optical Engineering and Lighting preferred
Experience with 3D CAD modeling software, PTC WF4 or CREO is preferred
Experience within a manufacturing environment, dealing with aerospace or in a highly regulated industry desired
Experience with DO160 or similar preferred
Excellent communication and documentation skills
ITAR - Permanent resident of the United States (“U.S. person” as defined by ITAR)
Background and drug screen - pass a post-offer background verification and drug screen.
Work Environment Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
